Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a historical drama that is set in the 17th century. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgan will be essaying the role of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader in the Maratha Empire and is famously known for his role in the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670. Yesterday Ajay, as well as Kajol, took to their respective Instagram handle to share a picture in the story section with a cloudy background with an inscription in ninja style quoting, "The Unsung Warrior Tomorrow".
As expected Ajay Devgan, today took to his Instagram handle and shared three posters of his upcoming film. In the first poster, Ajay Devgan can be seen in an extreme and bold look with a battle backdrop. The second poster highlights Saif Ali Khan as a warrior with his sword in action and has a dark setting to it with archers shooting down from a fort, it is a reference to the Battle of Sinhagad which took place during the night where the Maratha warriors led by Tanaji were climbing a steep cliff leading to the fort which was scaled at night with the help of a tamed monitor lizard named "Yashwanti", to whom the Marathas attached a rope and sent to climb the wall with its claws. And last but not least, the final poster is a combination of both the above posters which signifies a furious duel fight.
The film is directed by Om Raut. Saif Ali Khan will be essaying the role of Udaybhan Rathod whereas Kajol in the character of Savitri Malusare. It was slated to hit the screens on 27 December 2019 however the makers later pushed the release date to 10 January 2020.
