Endgame costs Hulk permanent injury
In Avengers: Endgame, it was ultimately Hulk who had the honor of wearing the Infinity Gauntlet and after that snap, he gets permanently injured. This heroic action, however, came with a price, as Bruce Banner’s arm was injured severely and perhaps permanently. Avengers: Endgame saw Professor Hulk injured by the snap ahead of the Endgame battle. Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo explains why Hulk was injured more than Thanos after the snap. Avengers: Endgame – The Art of the Movie, co-director Joe Russo reflects on this moment, explaining that the damage suffered by Hulk “We know how powerful Thanos is by his quick defeat of the Hulk in Infinity War, so this is an incredibly painful experience, to put on the gauntlet that controls the universe. It permanently damages the most powerful beings and some of the most powerful creatures in these movies, and very few people can actually put that on and survive.” “He’s lost an arm,” Russo says. “He lost Natasha. That’s not coming back. He’s damaged himself. I don’t know. It’s interesting. That’s permanent damage, the same way that it was permanent damage with Thanos. It’s irreversible damage. His arm, if you noticed, is a lot skinnier. It’s blackened. So, he loses a lot of strength there.” The power of infinity stones is so much the fate of the gauntlet’s final user, Tony Stark, whose climatic finger-snap costs the hero his life. The writers say they wrote a scene showing Hulk acting as a solo superhero during Endgame’s five-year gap, but it was cut from the film.
