The marvel fans trolled Martin Scorsese for his comment on Marvel that its movies are "not cinema." While talking to Empire magazine about his latest directorial The Irishman, the Oscar-winning director had stated, "I don't see them. I tried, you know? But that's not the cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks."
The director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 James Gunn recently took to Twitter to tweet, "Martin Scorsese is one of my five favorite living filmmakers. I was outraged when people picketed The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen the film. I'm saddened that he's now judging my films in the same way."
Now the new big name added to the list for taking a stand against Scorsese's comment is none other than Karen Gillan, aka Nebula in the MCU. "I would absolutely say that Marvel movies are cinema. Cinema is story-telling with visuals," Karen stated to The Hollywood Reporter. The actress further comes in defense of James Gunn and states, "There are so much heart and soul, and it's James' soul in there. He injects so much of his own personality, his sense of humor... that's a very big representation of who he is as a person, and therefore it's very cinematic. He's an artist,".
