Ishaan Khatter to romance Ananya Panday in Ali Abbas Zafar’s first production

Ishaan Khatter has been signed for Ali Abbas Zafar’s maiden production.
“Since the Maximum City-centric film is a fresh take on the romanticgenre and revolves around young people, Ali was keen to cast actors whoare a big draw with youngsters. Both Ishaan and Ananya have impressedwith their first films but have not worked together so it’s a new jodi aswell,” points out a source. The yet-untitled film marks the directorialdebut of one of Ali’s assistant directors.Interestingly, Ali himself started his Bollywood career with aromcom,' Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', featuring Katrina Kaif, ImranKhan and Ali Zafar. He then moved on to other genres like action, sport,thriller and drama. “But he feels this is the best subject and genre for himto turn producer. Being a writer himself, he has been involvedthroughout the scripting process,” the source added.Ishaan exploded on the screen in April last year in Iranian auteur MajidMajidi’s'Beyond The Clouds', following it up a couple of months laterwith' Dhadak', Karan Johar’s Hindi remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Marathifilm, ' Sairat'. Ananya Panday made her Hindi film debut withStudent ofThe Year 2co-starring Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria. The actress iscurrently in Lucknow filming the modern-day adaptation of ' Pati PatniAur Woh'and will jump onto Ali’s debut production by the year-end witha start-to-finish schedule.After his last directorial, the Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif period drama' Bharat', Ali is currently on a break in his hometown in Dehradun. Thedirector is working on multiple scripts at present and expected toannounce the third installment of the Tiger franchise, featuring SalmanKhan and Katrina Kaif, once he has locked the script.
